Activist Investors ?

Investing, at its core, is often about identification of a pricing anomaly and, thereafter, realization of profit from its correction. The approach of some investors is to take positions and hold onto them in the belief that the market will, over time, also come to recognize the anomaly and correct the value naturally. Others, however, prefer to take more active approach to unlocking and accelerating the realization of perceived value. These investors, often collectively labelled “activists”, are individuals and institutions seeking to influence a desired investment outcome through active engagement with a company’s various stakeholders (e.g., management teams, board of directors and other shareholders).
